Section 7 of NC Mountains to the Sea Trail. Pilot Mountain State Park to Hanging Rock State Park. 36 Miles. I had backpacked the ‘Sauratown Trail‘ two other times in the mid 1980s as well. May 23-25 2014. three day back packing trip with two sons. Starting at Dan River at Flinchum Road hiking west on MST and roads to Pilot Mt. Nov 15, 2014. Circuit day hike around Pilot Mt.
